    ASCENSION 1
    《飞升》之一

    In the first painting of this series, we can observe an ascending composition, where the character in the bottom left can be seen as the one that accumulates more mass, despite being smaller in size. Many affirm that the practice of meditation elevates the vibration of the atomic structure of our physical bodies. Following this strain of thought, the artist came to the visual conclusion of two bodies, in which the second, despite having the same mass, vibrates at a different rate, occupying a wider visual space.

     

    本系列第一作的构图,呈现自下而上的提升之势。画面左下角的人物虽然体积最小,但看起来似乎更重。据现代多门学科证实,冥想可以提升我们身体原子结构的振动频率,画家从而萌生了一个想法,或许重量相同的身体,振动频率越高,占据的空间就越大,所以要在画中用体积来区别冥想静修的程度。

     

     

     

    ASCENSION 2

    The second piece of the series portraits a similar structure, but instead of the vertical ascension, in this second work we see a perspective leading us inside the canvas. All the faceless practitioners are enclosed in the soft body of the Divinity portrayed. In the painting, the halo is represented in a dimensional way rather than a flat "plate", which is it's most common state of representation. The arrangement of the halo presents curved sections that overlap each other enhancing the sensation of dimensionality and contrasting dramatically with the figures of the practitioners. The monochromatism of the figures in a process of practice contrasts with an enlightened divinity and a higher dimension, and acting as a nexus between us and that spiritual realm we search for.


    本系列第二作的构图与第一作相仿,但与自下而上飞升不同,第二作以透视角度,将观者的目光吸引至画面之内,有如每一位有形无貌的修行者,都被纳入了神佛身躯之内。在本幅作品中,画家决定把“扁平”的光环立体化起来。不同维度的层面相互叠加在光环之中,勾勒出的线条蜿蜒而具体,与修行者们若有若无的躯体形成强烈对比。修行者们的形象,以单一沉闷的颜色呈现,与启蒙心智的神和更高维度的世界形成了强烈对比,神被描绘成了我们与我们追寻的精神领域之间的摆渡人。

    Just as the other paintings in the Ascension series, the elevation of the visual lecture of the work and of physical reality is connected with a sense of spiritual elevation. The technique used in this series is mostly the experimentation with metal pigments as well as the usual oil paint. Besides the previously mentioned iron particles (used in the totality of the practitioner’s figures and the sienna sections of the halo), copper oxide was also introduced for the cooler tones, helping to give the painting the feeling of aging.

     

    与《飞升》系列其他作品相同,本幅作品的构图和视觉元素都以精神升华为内涵。在传统的布面油画技巧上,画家还试验性地采用了金属涂料。除了前作使用的铁粉(描画了修行者和光环的褐色部分),还用铜锈来增加了冷色调,令画面更有了一分沧桑感。
